ITINERARY

  • Day 1: Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch

Your guide will welcome you at the airport and transfer you to the Kalahari Desert and to your home for the next 2 nights at Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch.

The ranch is characterised by huge red sand dunes running parallel.

    Activities:

    • Afternoon at leisure or enjoy the activities on offer at the ranch.

    Accommodation:

  • Day 2: Bushman Walk & Cheetah Conservation

This morning starts with an insightful walk with the San Bushman Walk where they will share their ancient survival skills and traditions from their forefathers. An amazing experience you will always remember.

In the afternoon we will enjoy a unique cheetah experience.

This allows us to get up close to orphaned cheetahs, great for taking photos. The guides will provide interesting facts about this incredible cat and the history of the cheetahs in their care

In association with CCF (Cheetah Conservation Fund), Bagatelle is the custodian of the cheetahs, which are kept in a 12-hectare enclosure. Unable to fend for themselves, the three orphans, Ralf, Etosha, and Tuano, are fed and cared for lovingly by them here at Bagatelle.

After this, a sundowner on the dune will await you, with refreshments and a Namibian snack, while you enjoy a breathtaking sunset in the Kalahari.

    Activities:

    • Walk with the San Bushmen

    • Cheetah Experience

    Accommodation:

  • Day 3: Tok Tokkie Trails

You’ll arrive at the Tok Tokkie Trails base at around 14h00, where the friendly team will welcome you with some refreshments.

You can refill water and pack your small daypack for the personal items you would like to take along on the walk. Your luggage will be transferred to the overnight camp by vehicle.

The trails starts with a visit of the Namib Desert Environmental Education Trust (NaDEET), a non-profit, donor sponsored trust. A short scenic drive then takes you to the starting point of the Tok Tokkie Trail.

Today, you will walk over a slope strewn with mysterious “fairy circles” and over rolling sand dunes to the first overnight camp.

The dunes are not the massive ones encountered at Sossusvlei, but small, vegetated dunes that have a unique beauty of their own. At camp, relax with a sundowner, marvel at the magnificent scenery and start “feeling” the desert before dinner is served.

You will quickly understand why NamibRand Nature Reserve is one of the few International Dark Sky Reserves in the world.

    Walking time:

    • 1 – 2 hrs at an easy pace

    Overnight:

    • Sleep under the stars on stretcher beds with Tok Tokkie Trails

      • Fully Inclusive

      • Local Brand wine, beers & spirits included

  • Day 4: Tok Tokkie Trails

Early morning tea or coffee is served before sunrise followed by a light breakfast.

The “morning news”, as written in the sand is always fascinating and with some luck and the guide’s trained eyes, you may spot some of the desert specials (golden mole, dancing white lady, barking gecko, dune lark, flightless wasp to name a few). You walk over a mountain saddle before descending gently to a dry riverbed.

During the course of the day your guide will explain some wonders of the Namib to you – how the fascinating desert flora survives, how insect and reptile life adapts to the harsh environment and how mammals can survive here without water. Birding is surprisingly good and you may be lucky enough to come across larger animals including bat-eared fox, oryx, springbok and ostrich.

For lunch we will stop at a shady spot to enjoy the chef’s delicacies and fill up your water bottles. There is plenty of time to relax and have a siesta.

As the heat recedes, we’ll walk over the dunes to your second overnight spot. The scene before you is a sea of endless dunes and “fairy circles” against a backdrop of magnificent mountain scenery. Photography is spectacular! The shadows on the dunes create an ever-changing palette of colours shortly before sunset.

A sundowner and a delicious dinner awaits you. You might hear some barking geckos, owls or just deafening silence.

    Walking time:

    • Morning: 4 – 4.5 hrs

    • Afternoon: 2 – 2.5 hrs.

    Overnight:

    • Sleeping out in the open on stretcher beds with Tok Tokkie Trails

      • Fully Inclusive

      • Local Brand wine, beers & spirits included

  • Day 5: Sundowners at Camp Sossus

After you arrive back at base camp, you will make your way to Camp Sossus, your base for the next two nights.

You can either join us on an afternoon mountain bike adventure/walk depending on groups preference. Or relax at Camp Sossus and unwind by the pool.

The camp offers just six tented guest rooms and we’ll be taking over the who camp offering unparalleled opportunities for immersive exploration of the Namib Desert environment.

We’ll re-group for an evening sundowner out in nature watching the sun set over the stunning landscapes.

After the sun has set we will head back to camp for showers and enjoy a tasty dinner.

    Activities:

    • Morning walk to base camp with Tok Tokkie Trals

    • Afternoon bike ride/walk or relax around camp.

    Overnight:

    • Camp Sossus

      • Fully Inclusive

      • Local brand wine, beer & spirits included

  • Day 6: Sossusvlei Visit

Today we will visit the famous Sossusvlei in the Namib Naukluft National Park. We’ll enter the park at sunrise so that we can enjoy the dunes whilst the light is soft and shadows accentuated, perfect for beautiful photography opportunities. Will have time to climb the most photographed dune in the world, dune 45 and also have a hike to see Deadvlei and climb "Big Daddy" dune.

This area boasts some of the highest free-standing sand dunes in the world and our guide can show you some of the myriad of fascinating creatures and plants that have adapted to survive these harsh conditions in the Namib Desert.

    Activities:

    • Full day exploring Sossusvlei and Namib Naukluft National Park

    Accommodation:

    • Camp Sossus

      • Fully Inclusive

      • Local Brand wine, beers & spirits included

  • Day 7: Swakopmund

Today you will make your way to Swakopmund. You will have a stop at the famous Solitaire farm to take some photos.

Rest of the afternoon is at leisure. Take a walk around the town, relax on the beach or recoup for our final day.

    Activities:

    • Explore Solitaire Farm

    Accommodation:

  • Day 8: Spitzkoppe

Today we are going to visit Spitzkoppe, known as the Matterhorn of Africa. We will have a guided walk around the rock formations, followed by a light lunch in nature.

One of Namibia’s most recognisable landmarks, the 1728m-high Spitzkoppe rises mirage-like above the dusty plains of southern Damaraland.

Its dramatic shape has inspired its nickname, the Matterhorn of Africa, but similarities between this ancient volcanic remnant and the glaciated Swiss alp begin and end with its sharp peak.

    Activities:

    • Day trip to Spitzkoppe

      • Lunch included

    Accommodation:

  • Day 9: Time to Say Goodbye

After breakfast, a short transfer to Walvis Bay Airport for your outbound flight.
